Pehlgam Attack
Pakistan is denying responsibility for the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. On Wednesday, the neighbouring country not only denied any connection with the attack, but also accused India of spreading unrest. At present, there has been no response from India. The terrorist attack on Tuesday is being considered the biggest attack, in which 26 people were gunned down.
Outrage over Pakistan's Statement
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, a close aide of Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, while talking to Live 92 News Channel said, "Pakistan has nothing to do with this. All this has started in their own home. A revolution is going on in the so-called states against India. Not one or two, but dozens are going on. This is happening from Nagaland to Kashmir, Chhattisgarh, Manipur. Revolution is taking place against the Indian government in all these places."
Pak's Defence Minister sparks Fury
Asif said, 'We have nothing to do with this. We do not support terrorism anywhere under any circumstances and innocent people should not be targeted in any domestic conflict.'
He said, 'All this has started at home. People are demanding their rights. Hindutva forces are harassing people, suppressing minorities and persecuting Christians and Buddhists. They are being killed. This is a movement against this. That is why such activities are taking place there.'
Pak's Controversial Reaction
He said, 'There is no doubt that our national policy does not allow targeting of non-combatants, but if the army or police commit atrocities anywhere in India against people demanding their rights, if they are revolting and taking up arms, then it is easy to blame Pakistan.'
Asif said, 'We have given evidence almost every day that India is spreading unrest in Balochistan and other areas.' He said that India has a long history of spreading unrest in Pakistan.
Attack in Pahalgam
26 people were killed in a terrorist attack on Tuesday afternoon at Baisaran, a tourist destination known as 'Mini Switzerland' near Pahalgam town. Most of the dead were tourists. This is the biggest attack in the valley after the Pulwama attack in 2019.
